VECO Partners with RAFI’s One to Tree Program For Tree-Growing Initiatives

December 1, 2019

The Visayan Electric Company, one of AboitizPower’s most well-established distribution units, partnered with RAFI One to Tree to support VECO 1, 2, and 3 Tree-Growing Projects. This series of projects started in October 2017 and is expected to wrap up by December 2021.

The local government unit of Panadtaran, San Fernando, as well as its school teachers and students, were tapped to fully mobilise the project. Each project phase covered one hectare, totaling to 3 hectares planted. With VECO’s steadfast support, the total seedlings planted rose up to 15,000.

VECO 1 Project was supervised by 17 farmers who yielded 83% survival rate. VECO 2 and 3 also employed the help of 17 farmers who ensured an 80% survival rate for all the seedlings planted. With the final phase of the projects drawing near, the overall project seems to be progressing fairly well.

All in all, VECO donated a total ₱582,500.00 which was enough to instigate a positive change in the province of San Fernando, as well as the lives of its resident farmers.

One to Tree, a program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., offers community-based and environmentally appropriate tree growing services.
